Chloe Anthony Wofford Morrison known as Toni Morrison was born in February 18, 1931 in Chloe Ardelia Wofford and died in August 5, 2019 at New York City. She was an American novelist, essayist, editor, teacher and professor emeritus at Princeton University. She decided to change her name to Toni Morison because she respected how her fans liked to call her “Toni.” Her notable works include Beloved, Song of Solomon, Tar Baby and The Bluest Eye. Her first novel The Bluest Eye was published in 1970, the critically acclaimed Song of Solomon in 1977 brought her national attention and won the National Book Critics Circle Award and in 1988 she won the Pulitzer Prize and the American Book Award for Beloved. Soma management and staffs organized tribute to the Late Toni Morrison on 6th September 2019 at Soma Book café.
