World Views: Multicultural Literature for Critical Writers, Readers, and Thinkers is a cross-genre reader designed to provide developing writers with a rich selection of readings which inspire them to improve critical writing and thinking skills. Accompanied by high-interest, easy to use world wide web searching activities and critical thinking exercises, as well as a concise grammar appendix, World Views provides a wealth of support for teachers and their developing writing students, including non-traditional learners. Multicultural reading selections from a variety of genres including essays, biographical sketches, stories, drama, and poetry organized around five universal themes provides students with exposure to a wide range of world views and perspectives. The World Views Online web site provides students with a host of directed researching activities on the text’s rich themes and topics, on the anthologized authors, and their other written works. A focus on critical thinking is incorporated throughout via pre- and post-reading activities, information mapping, and vocabulary support with etymological and root explanations which reinforce skills needed for successful academic preparation.
