First Ever Swahili- English literary translation workshop at Soma book cafe

[fusion_text]Soma, in partnership with Commonwealth writers and English PEN organized a workshop on Swahili to English translation held in Dar es Salaam (soma book cafe) from 7-11 November 2016.

The workshop was led by the literary translators Richard Mabala (a veteran writer in Tanzania) and Ida Hadjivayanis ( A lecturer of Swahili and translation from SOAS University, UK)
The workshop participants  worked on the consensus translation of short story and poem, with participation from the invited authors.

The workshop exposed trainees to many things including professional translation world and advanced translation techniques.
